UPDATE - May 19, 2023

WestJet’s pilots’ association reached an agreement-in-principle with WestJet earlier today, May 19.

Our protection agreement with WestJet allows them to rebook customers on Air Canada flights in any booking class up to 72 hours in advance, providing space is available. WestJet had cancelled some of its flights in preparation for a labour disruption and is working to ramp up their operations quickly. As a result, we anticipate that our domestic, sun and transborder flights will be very full in the coming days. We advise anyone planning to travel using standby travel passes to be prepared with alternate routing and means of transportation.

WestJet pilots have given notice to strike effective May 19. Our protection agreement with WestJet allows them to rebook customers on Air Canada flights in any booking class up to 72 hours in advance. We anticipate that our domestic, sun and transborder flights will be very full as a result and caution anyone attempting to travel using standby travel passes to be prepared with alternate routing and means of transportation.
