Upcoming Changes to Employee Travel Privileges

Dear colleagues,

We love to travel. It’s who we are. And we enjoy the opportunity to share our love of travel with family and friends. Our planes are fuller, and that is great news for all of us. But we heard you when you said that this is making it harder for you to enjoy your privileges.

In response to employee feedback, we are making some changes to our employee travel privileges that better align with our values and support our employee culture, while honouring the commitments we made to certain employee groups.

We are sharing this information with all employees, in full transparency, to ensure a fair and complete understanding of the changes taking place.

Travel Passes for Management and AT&S Employees

We will be discontinuing the B1 Flex+ travel passes for all management and AT&S employees. AT&S employees and managers band F, E, D and D+, which represents approximately three quarters of all management employees, will be granted an annual allotment of 12 C1/J Flex travel passes. Managers band C and C+ will be granted an annual allotment of 12 A2/J Flex travel passes.
B1 Flex+ travel passes will be discontinued as of September 1, 2023. 12 C1/J Flex upgrade travel passes will be loaded that day for AT&S and managers band F, E, D and D+. Similarly, 12 A2/J upgrade travel passes will be loaded that day for band C and C+ employees.
Travel passes for senior management employees remain unchanged.
Any B1 listings for travel beginning on or after September 1, 2023, will be cancelled. However, if a trip using a B1/J pass begins prior to September 1, 2023, we will allow for the return portion of the trip on the B1/J priority (within 30 days from departure).

Listing Rules

Listing rules for all A2/J, B1/J, C1/J travel passes will change effective September 1, 2023. A maximum of six people may be listed on a single PNR.

Eligibility Requirements for All New Employees

Effective immediately, all new employees must be employed for six months before travel privileges are granted.

GO AC Family Discount

Our Go AC Family travel program is being enhanced. As of September 1, 2023, each employee may book travel for eligible family members at 25% off to any destination operated by Air Canada. There is a limit of ten (10) promotional codes per year. This is an improvement over the current 20% discount.
Should you have any questions regarding these changes, please post them in Viva Engage (formerly Yammer) or contact Employee Travel at actravel.voyageac@aircanada.ca.

FAQ

In response to employee feedback, we are making some changes to our employee travel privileges that better align with our values and support our employee culture.

We wanted to implement these changes as soon as possible based on employee feedback, but minimize the impact on summer travel plans. As such, the changes will go into effect September 1, 2023 for all Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Air Canada Vacations, Trans-Canada Capital, and Jazz employees.

We know these changes may be unpopular with some of our management group. However, as we have in the past, we are adjusting to the overwhelming feedback we have received and are addressing the largest irritants. Passes are a privilege and may be changed at any time.

No. Any existing management bookings on a B1/J priority will be cancelled in Altea (for exceptions, please see question #8 above). You will therefore need to re-list yourself using your new pass priority product.

This is based on employee feedback and to strike a balance between enabling employees to travel with their families and friends, but not monopolizing available seat usage on any given flight. Please note that this reduction applies to all pass priorities.

  • For AT&S employees and managers band F, E, D and D+, you will see/receive a bundle allotment 12 C1/J Flex travel passes.
  • For managers band C and C+, you will see/receive a bundle allotment of 12 A2/J Flex travel passes.
  • Everything else remains the same, including pass bundles for non-management employees.

No. All affected employees will be given a fresh allotment on September 1, 2023, as per question #12. We will not be prorating any amounts, even if you have used up your entire allotment of B1 passes. The annual travel pass refresh will also take place as per usual in January 2024.

Yes. We are not making any changes to the service charges associated with the new products.
Please note all applicable taxes and fees still also apply.
