UK introducing Electronic Travel Authorization in early 2025
UK introducing Electronic Travel Authorization in early 2025
Starting on Jan. 8, 2025, travelers visiting or transiting through the United Kingdom will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to travel. Applications will cost £10 per person, remain valid for two years and permit multiple trips to the UK for stays of up to 6 months. The expected turnaround time for processing applications is estimated to be within three business days. If your passport expires before the two-year mark, you will need to apply for a new ETA.
Canadian and US residents can begin applying for their Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) as of Nov. 27. Flight crew on duty are exempt from this requirement. But anyone wishing to visit the UK for leisure or business will need to apply prior to departure.
Please visit the United Kingdom's government website for more information on the new requirement.
