Space-Available Business Travel Policy For Training

This policy outlines the rules governing space-available business travel for Air Canada employees travelling for training.  Its purpose is to clarify the conditions under which such travel is permitted.

This policy applies to new and active employees of Air Canada, AC Rouge or Air Canada Vacations who are:

Useful Definitions

Travel for Training
Limited to employees required to attend training away from their work base for more than two weeks. These employees are provided one business pass to visit their family every two weeks. In lieu of the employee, the spouse may be granted 1 space available pass (Priority A2/Y06) to meet the employee at the training location.

HR Connex > Go to e HR Kiosk > Employee Travel Request> Air Canada Employees > Training Pass

Rules & Limitations

If you are heading to a training class the rules and limitations below govern travel for these purposes.

Rules

For the sole purpose of training.

Priority A2/Y06

Valid as soon as the employee’s travel profile is active on the Employee Travel Site (no minimum service required).

Valid for space-available travel on AC, AC Rouge and AC Express.

Subject to applicable taxes/fees

Subject to dress code, baggage allowance, and code of conduct policies.

Limitations

Not valid for travel on Other Airlines.

Not valid for personal travel, including side trips immediately before or after the training dates.  

Procedure

Reserving space-available business travel

  1. List yourself using the:
    • Employee Travel Site (ETS)
    • Go to tab Business AC > Business SA
  2. Select your flight (space permitting)
    • Listing in Economy class is subject to Y class availability

Non-compliance

Any disregard of the conditions outlined above will result in disciplinary action, including the suspension of travel privileges.
