Not valid for replacement with a C2/Y10 pass in the event an upgrade to business class is not possible at the gate.

Billing & Allotments

Billing occurs as detailed in the billing section of the travel passes page.

The JSA pass is not a stand-alone pass. It will not be billed/deducted from the allotment separately from other pass types that are used on the same trip.

Please review the following illustrative examples to understand how our billing and travel reconciliation works.. Please pay careful attention to the point of origin and the first return to it – that’s when each trip is considered complete.

Example 1

  1. An employee travels from Montreal to Halifax on a JSA pass to pick up an accompanied travel partner.
  2. They both travel back to Montreal on a C2/Y10
  3. Then, they both travel to Nassau and back to Montreal on a C2/Y10
  4. Then, they both travel back to Halifax on a C2/Y10
  5. The employee returns to Montreal on the JSA pass

All travel occurred within 30 days and 8 flight segments. Here is a breakdown of how it would be billed, as well as how allotments would be taken:

Employee billing

Explanation: The employee may think that only one JSA pass will be deducted after trip 3, upon her final return to Montreal from Halifax. However, she had already returned to Montreal during trip 1. Even though a different pass was used on the return trip, it’s the return to the point of origin that signals a completed trip, regardless what combination of passes was used.

Accompanied partner billing

Example 2

An employee:

  1. Travels from Toronto to Halifax on a C2/Y10 pass
  2. Then returns to Toronto on a JSA pass with the intention of traveling on to Europe
  3. Then, travels from Toronto to London and back to Toronto on a JSA pass
  4. Then, travels to Halifax on a JSA pass
  5. Then, returns to Toronto on a C2/Y10 pass

All travel occurred within 30 days and 8 flight segments.

Billing breakdown:

Explanation: The employee may think that only one JSA pass will be deducted because the first one he used was to travel to Halifax, which he returned to during trip 3. However, the employee had already returned to the point of origin on two other trips for which he used JSA passes. Therefore, three JSA passes will be deducted.

Non-compliance

When in doubt, it’s better to contact actravel.voyageac@aircanada.ca or call 1-833-847- EMPL (3675) to ask for clarification than to risk making the wrong assumption.
