Rules & Limitations

We want you to enjoy your Flex passes, which is why you should review the information below. It provides details on how the passes work, when you can use them, and who can enjoy them with you.

The information provided below is pass-specific and complements the rules outlined in the Employee Travel Policy. In other words, the ETP rules still apply unless otherwise stated below.

Rules

Valid for travel on AC, AC Express carriers, AC Rouge.

All eligible passengers must travel on the same boarding priority.

Boarding priority is as per the employee’s/retiree’s/survivor’s travel profile (i.e. C1/J22).

Subject to applicable taxes.

Subject to applicable service charges as outlined in the table above.

Limitations

Not valid for travel on AC Vacations, Star Alliance, or other airlines.

Employee/retiree/survivor may not register for a flight with a Flex bundle and C2/Y10 pass at the same time.

Not valid for replacement with a C2/Y10 pass in the event an upgrade to business class is not possible at the gate.

Bundles cannot be combined.

Refresh

C1 Flex bundles will be refreshed every January, to a minimum of 12.   C1 passes could also be added throughout the year. This would include Holiday passes as well as any gifts or Recognition passes given. Moving forward, C1s will be given in bunches of two. If you receive a Holiday pass  for having worked Dec. 25, two C1s will be added to your Flex bundle.

If an employee began the year 2023 with 14 C1 passes in their Flex bundle and uses eight over the course of the year, their Flex bundle will be topped up to 12 in January 2024.

If an employee began the year 2023 with 16 C1 passes in their Flex bundle and did not travel, 16 C1 passes will remain in their Flex bundle in January 2024. If more C1 passes are gifted throughout the year, they will continue to be added to the Flex bundle.

What happens to my C1s when I retire?

There’s good news for retirees too! They will be granted an annual Flex bundle of six C1 passes. And, for employees that are currently active, when you retire, your bundle  Flex bundle will be transferred to your retirement profile as is with current allotments.

As of January 2023, if a retiree at time of annual refresh has an allotment of more than six, the allotment will be left as is.

As of January 2023, if a retiree at time of annual refresh has an allotment of less than six, the allotment will be topped up to six.

For example, Retiree A had 10 C1 passes in their Flex bundle in August 2022 and opted to retire. Their allotment will remain at 10 at the 2023 refresh as the annual standard for retirees is six C1 passes.

For example, Retiree B had 2 C1 passes in their Flex bundle in August 2022 and opted to retire. Their allotment will be topped up to six at 2023 refresh as the annual standard for retirees is six C1 passes.
