Policy regarding access to the Maple Leaf Lounge
This policy provides an overview of the rules governing access to the Maple Leaf Lounge (MLL) for employees of Air Canada (AC) and employees or customers of Star Alliance (and their travel companions).

Scope & Eligibility
Employees (including travel companions traveling on the same reservation, or eligible passengers registered on the employee’s travel profile) of Air Canada and Star Alliance airlines traveling on airline travel passes, whether for personal or confirmed business travel, are not eligible to access the Maple Leaf Lounge unless they meet the criteria detailed in the guidelines below.

- Other Airlines' Star Alliance Gold Status Members
Employee (Non-Rev) Access Policy
AC aligned its MLL employee access policy with that of our Star Alliance partners to facilitate access between our lounges, when applicable.
AC Aeroplan Elite (50K and higher) and Star Alliance Gold (*G) Status members have access to Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges and Star Alliance carrier lounges when flying in any class of service when traveling with:
- Air Canada
- Air Canada Rouge
- Air Canada Express
- A flight with any Star Alliance carrier
- Any flight operated by a non-Star Alliance carrier booked under AC Codeshares.
SE & VIP members have access to the LHR Arrivals Lounge. VIP members also have access to the AC Signature Suite when departing on any Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express flight (ONLY), to any International destination (Sun included), in any class of service.
The employee’s Aeroplan number may be added to the AC, AC Express, AC Rouge or Star Alliance carrier booking before or at check-in.
The employee may also present a valid membership card for entry.
Guest Privileges
- 1 complimentary guest, even if the guest is traveling on a non-revenue ticket.
- Guests of Aeroplan Elite Status members (Elite 50K or higher) do not need to be flying on the same flight as the Elite member to access AC MLL's.
- Guest of OAL (non-AC) Star Alliance Gold member must be departing on the same flight as the Star Alliance Gold member.
- Valid for additional paid guests, space permitting, even if traveling on a non-revenue ticket.
- AC Café: One complimentary guest. (No paid guests.)
- Note: Elite Status members may be entitled to an additional guest if they possess a linked Premium cobrand credit card (see below).
Employee (Non-Rev) Access Policy
- Access to Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges when a Status Pass (“STPA”) has been added to the traveler’s non-revenue ticket. (Not valid for AC Café.)
- Access to all MLLs only valid when departing on a same-day flight operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express.
- All customers listed on a booking reservation with a Status Pass will benefit from the lounge access benefit.

Guest Privileges
- No guests.
Employee (Non-Rev) Access Policy
Active and retired employees holding any PJ Travel Priority are entitled to access any MLL and AC Café upon presentation of their boarding pass (any class of service - even if travelling in Premium Economy or Economy):
- PJD/XXX – select politicians, Board of Directors, former Board members
- PJ1/XXX – AC Executives
- PJ2/XXX – Senior Management
- PJA/XXX – Anniversary or Award
- PJ3/XXX – AC and subsidiary senior management on company business, perk, retired AC executive, travel management executive
- PJ5/XXX – Star Alliance executive, OAL President or Senior Executive
Deadheading Captains and First Officers holding a ticket with PJ2/J05 or PJ3/J08 priority DO NOT have access to MLL.
Board of Directors and Executive Management (PJD/XXX & PJ1/XXX only) can also access the AC Signature Suite.
Guest Privileges
- PJD/XXX & PJ1/XX: Unlimited complimentary guests, space permitting, whether traveling (on any airline) or not traveling.
- Family members holding PJD/XXX or PJ1/XXX Priority: No guests.
- Other staff priorities: No guests.
Employee (Non-Rev) Access Policy
Employees presenting an MLC Privilege Card have access to Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges, the AC Café, and United Airlines Club Lounges in the U.S. whether traveling (on any airline) or not.
Guest Privileges
- Unlimited complimentary guests, space permitting, whether traveling (on any airline) or not traveling.
- No guest entitlement in any UA Club.
- TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege Card
- CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege Card
- American Express® Aeroplan® Reserve Card
- American Express® Aeroplan® Business Reserve Card
- American Express® Aeroplan® Corporate Reserve Card
- American Express® Air Canada Card
Employee (Non-Rev) Access Policy
As a primary or secondary Premium Aeroplan credit cardholder, a non-revenue passenger may access any Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in:
- Canada (domestic, transborder & international)
- United States
The employee must be departing on a same-day flight operated by:
- Air Canada
- Air Canada Rouge
- Air Canada Express
- A flight with any Star Alliance carrier
- Any flight operated by a non-Star Alliance carrier booked under AC Codeshares.
* American Express® Air Canada Cardmembers (ONLY) (Super Premium card) also have access to the Int’l MLLs (CDG, FRA & LHR), the AC Café and the Air Canada Signature Suite. Access to the AC Signature Suite when departing on any Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight (ONLY), in any class of service.
The traveler’s cobrand credit card must be linked to the traveler’s Aeroplan account and the Aeroplan number (FQTV) must be appended to the booking before or at check-in.

Guest Privileges
- Eligible Premium credit cardholders can bring in ONE complimentary guest (until December 31, 2024) who is also travelling on a same-day flight.
- Valid for additional paid guests, space permitting, even if traveling on a non-revenue ticket.
- American Express® Air Canada Cardmembers (ONLY): One guest complimentary to Signature Suite. The Signature Suite guest must also be departing on an Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight ONLY, in any class of service.
- Note: Cobrand cardholders may be entitled to an additional guest when holding Air Canada Elite Status (see above).
Exceptions & Limitations
- Eligible employees may only visit lounges prior to departing on a flight – not upon arrival.
- Lounge access for eligible employees may be restricted at peak times depending on lounge capacity.
- Access not valid for AC Signature Suite (unless stated otherwise above).
Procedure
CES working in the MLL must scan the non-revenue traveler’s boarding pass to allow them access to the lounge. The CES may also need to scan/swipe the traveler’s Elite, Star Alliance Gold or MLC Club membership card. This counts as a record of the employee’s visit.
Non-compliance
Employees who attempt to gain access to the MLL without meeting the eligibility criteria will be denied entry.
